On April 17th, Mr. Conaway took his high school art club on a field trip to the River Campus at Southeast Missouri State University. This trip included a tour of the art department at SEMO, a visit to River Radio Station’s Real Rock 99.3 studios, and the SEMO Rust Center for Media. At Real Rock 99.3, students were able to create a recording that is being played from 8-10pm this week. At the Rust Center for Media, students were allowed to create a mock broadcast with students participating in the journalism, camera work, sound booth audio, green screen, and directing of the broadcast. Students were guided by professor Dr. Tamara Zellars Buck, department chairperson of Mass Media, professor Thomas White, broadcast engineer, and professor Michael Simmons, mass media in advertising. Hopefully this experience will expose students to the possibilities of what SEMO has to offer in art and mass media.
