Speech & Debate
About Speech & Debate
The Speech and Debate team is a MSHSAA sponsored activity in which students attend tournaments and try to out “speak” the other contestants. In our district, it is not shocking for our students to go up against 9 other schools week after week, with the ultimate goal of succeeding at districts and state competition. We compete in categories that perfect public speaking skills, taking critiques, critical and empathic thinking, all while practicing for months and months.
The Speech and Debate team meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 until 4:30. The first meeting starts the 3rd week of the fall semester and the 2nd week of the spring semester.
How to Join
Since this is a MSHSAA activity, new members can join almost any time in the fall semester, but they must meet the MSHSAA standards for play. Spring semester is closed to accepting new members.
