Track Athletes Racing For District Success

It is the time of year high school spring athletes prepare for all season long. It is the time of year they train for all year long. It is the time of year the greatest glory can be found. It is postseason time.

The Scott City track team is ready for the time of year. Ever since the first day of practice back in late February, everything they have worked on has led to getting ready to put on their best performance in the district track meet. This year’s district track meet will be held on Saturday, May 4th and will take place at the Scott City High School track and field facility.

In track and field, the top four finishers in each individual event at districts move onto the sectional meet. So if one of our athletes or relay teams finish fourth or better in their event, that athlete or relay team will move onto sectionals.

While we hope all Scott City athletes perform well enough to advance, there are some individuals who enter the district meet with a seeding score top four or better. On the boys side, Carter Burger is seeded second in Discus with a score of 42.48m, Nathan Ham is seeded fourth in the 300m Hurdles with a time of 44.82, the 4x200m relay is seeded fourth with a time of 1:37.88, the 4x400m relay is seeded fourth with a time of 3:43.53, and the 4x800m relay is seeded fourth with a time of 8:57.26. For the girls team, the 4x800m relay is seeded second with a score of 10:53.10, Lilyan Landis is seeded third in the 400m Dash with a score of 1:04.85, Logan Schiwitz is seeded fourth in Discus with a score of 29.06m, and the 4x400m relay is seeded fourth with a score of 4:43.75. There are also several athletes and relay teams with scores just outside the top four who have a great chance of qualifying for sectionals.

With the district track meet at Scott City this year, and with so many athletes poised to advance to the sectional meet, we hope to see as many Ram fans as possible on May 4th. We wish all of our track athletes the best of luck! Go Rams!
