Track Athlete On His Way to State

Photo of Carter BurgerIt has been a quite season for junior thrower Carter, and it is not over yet. Earlier this season, Carter broke the school’s nearly 50 year old Discus record, scoring a throw of 49.77m (163’3″), besting the old record by 6 feet. Carter also took first place at the district meet, extending his own record in the process. Carter then moved on to the Sectional meet, where he won first place with a score of 49.2m.

Now Carter is on his way to the State Track and Field meet. The Class 2 State Track meet will be held in Jefferson City on Friday, May 23rd and Saturday, May 24th. Of the 16 discus competitors currently registered, Carter is seeded 2nd, behind only a thrower from Adrian High School, who enters with a seed score of 51.49m.

Scott City Schools wishes Carter the best of luck in the upcoming meet. If you would like to follow Carter’s attempt to win a state championship, the State meet is scheduled to be timed by Prime Time Timing. Once the meet begins, PTT should provide a “Live Results” link to follow along with the meet. If you are not able to keep up with the meet in real time, event results should be posted to Milesplit, very soon after the conclusion of the event.

Good luck Carter!
