Sectional Champs! Scott City Rams Take Down Kelly Hawks en Route to State Quarterfinal

The stakes were at an all-time high on May 26th, as the Scott City Varsity Rams delivered a championship performance, securing a crucial 4-2 victory over their rivals, the Kelly Hawks, in the sectional round of the state tournament. This win signifies more than just advancing to the next stage; it represents the team’s ability to perform under intense pressure against top-tier competition. The Rams showcased exceptional depth and execution across the board, demonstrating a mastery of fundamental baseball skills that solidified their position as serious contenders on the path through the state tournament

The offensive firepower set the tone for Scott City’s afternoon success. The Rams wasted no time establishing an early lead when Braeden launched a powerful three-run homer in the first inning, providing the immediate momentum crucial to the team’s success. Beyond that pivotal hit, the lineup was relentless, compiling 11 hits and featuring standout performances from key players like Lane, who led the way with three hits in just four at-bats, while Jackson and Tyson each contributed with two hits. Complementing this offensive might was pitching brilliance: Kaden delivered a masterful six innings effort, limiting the Hawks to only two runs and earning the vital win for the Rams.

With Lane sealing the deal on the mound, the victory was comprehensive—a testament to disciplined play across all three phases of the game. Despite facing tough opposition from Kelly Hawks hitters, Scott City’s pitchers and defense maintained composure, keeping the opposing offense off balance while ensuring their stellar players remained productive. This hard-earned sectional championship title provides undeniable momentum, positioning the Rams perfectly as they look ahead with high hopes toward competing in the next round of the State Tournament.

The next opponent for the Rams will be the 22-4 Jefferson BlueJays. The State Quarterfinal game is scheduled to be played at Jefferson’s home field on Thursday, May 28th, with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. We hope all Rams fans can make it up to Festus to cheer on the baseball team as they attempt to return to the baseball State Final Four!
