FINAL FOUR!

The Scott City Baseball team is heading to the State Final Four! With a thrilling 4-3 victory in 8 innings on May 28th, the Rams punched their ticket for the right to compete for the Class 3 state title.

 

The Rams opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to a pair of doubles. The BlueJays responded with a run in the top of the 2nd and jumped into the lead in the fifth inning after a Taylor singled to center field, and a sacrifice bunt from Hampton, each scoring one run. But in their last chance at the plate, the Rams capitalized on a BlueJays error, tying the game at three and forcing extra innings. And with one out in the bottom of the 8th, the Rams were able to bring the winning run home to score, securing their spot in the State Semifinals.

 

Braeden earned the win for Scott City, striking out the only batter he faced in the 8th inning, after relieving Lane. Lane started the game for Scott City and gave up five hits and three runs (only one earned) over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking none.

 

The Rams will play next on June 3rd against the Duchesne Pioneers. The game will take place in Ozark, Missouri, with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 pm. The Rams are also assured a second game, this one on June 4th, with their opponent to be determined in the other state semifinal game. We wish the baseball team the best of luck, as they attempt to earn their 2nd State Baseball Champion title!
